Danielle Cummings

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” I believe that each person has a story to tell and I am someone who genuinely wants to know yours. My name is Danielle Cummings and I have had experience counseling many individuals, couples, families, and groups. My passion is to deeply connect with each person I come in to contact with and be present with them in that moment. I love my partner of over 18 years of marriage and my two beautiful children ages 11 and 13. I have three dogs that provide me with therapeutic connection and love through their unconditional acceptance. I enjoy being in nature in all its forms and have travelled and lived in many places (Shanghai, China was my favorite). I seek to understand people from all different socio-economic, cultural, racial/ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds. I strive to make an impact on this world for and with the marginalized population.

Will you imagine with me for a moment? You are a driver in a vehicle and I am in the passenger seat. Where are we going? Only you know where that vehicle will take us if you are willing to trust me as a partner in our approach to work together towards your goals. I utilize my gifts of intuition, empathy, compassion, wisdom, and passion to authentically connect with you, help you feel safe and lead you to a healthier, more fulfilling life. You are the expert on your own life. Are you willing to take a chance and let me get to know you and help you navigate the great struggle of humanity that we call life?

Through my experience of working in the community mental health setting I have had the opportunity to work with a multitude of people from all ages (4-85) with a variety of mental health struggles. In my experience I have utilized techniques from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution-Focused, mindfulness techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systemic therapy, as well as many others. I graduated from Johnson University in Knoxville, TN with a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy/ Professional Counseling. I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Indiana.

Over the last few years of turmoil and disruption, many people have begun to question what is the purpose of my life? Am I satisfied in my relationships, in my job, etc? There is no greater time than now to start your personal journey towards healing. I will never push you to go where you do not want to go, but I am willing to go wherever it is that you need to go. Whether that is digging up the deep roots from your childhood of abuse, neglect, pain, sorrow, or other such difficulties that created your core beliefs about yourself and how you interact with others. Or if you want to focus on the here and now, present circumstances that you need relief and support from. Then I am the therapist for you.

About

Danielle Cummings believes every person carries a story worth hearing and approaches therapy with genuine curiosity and presence. She has worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups, and brings a consistent intention to connect deeply with each person she meets. Danielle values being present in the moment and offers a compassionate, empathetic approach to therapy.

She shares a life with a partner of more than 18 years and is a parent to two children, ages 11 and 13. Danielle also finds comfort and therapeutic connection through her three dogs, and she enjoys spending time in nature. She has traveled and lived in several places, with Shanghai, China noted as a favorite. Danielle purposefully seeks to understand people from diverse socio-economic, cultural, racial, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds and aims to make a difference alongside marginalized communities.

Danielle often invites clients to imagine themselves as the driver while she sits in the passenger seat – a metaphor for collaborative work in which the client guides the direction and she offers support, intuition, empathy, compassion, wisdom, and steady presence. She emphasizes that clients are the experts on their own lives and encourages those who are ready to take a chance on getting to know themselves better and navigating life’s challenges together.

With eight years of clinical experience in community mental health, Danielle has worked with people across the lifespan, from age 4 to 85, facing a wide range of mental health struggles. Her training includes techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness practices, acceptance and commitment therapy, and systemic therapy, among others. She earned a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Counseling from Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee, and is licensed in Indiana as a marriage and family therapist (IN LMFT 35002192A).

As many people reflect on purpose, relationships, and satisfaction in recent years, Danielle sees this as an important time to begin or continue a healing journey. She will not push anyone beyond their readiness, but she is prepared to travel wherever the work needs to go – whether that means exploring deep roots from childhood experiences such as abuse or neglect, or focusing on present-day concerns that require relief and practical support.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether online therapy really helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions. One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their life best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to attend sessions consistently and integrate therapeutic work into a busy schedule. All therapists involved are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists at any time if they want a different fit. For many individuals, online therapy provides an accessible, practical way to pursue meaningful change and support during challenging times.
