Connie Kretchmar welcomes new clients to counseling and brings 18 years of professional experience to her practice in North Carolina.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and a Master of Arts in Counseling from East Tennessee State University, and she is licensed to practice as a professional counselor in Tennessee and as a clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina.
Connie works with women and men, families, and adolescents of all races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations. Her therapeutic work blends cognitive-behavioral methods, acceptance and commitment strategies, person-centered listening, and solution-focused techniques. She collaborates with each client to shape a treatment approach that fits their needs and goals.
Beginning counseling can help clarify what matters most, identify what may be missing, and address obstacles that keep someone from a more meaningful life. Once concerns are identified, Connie helps clients build or renew coping skills, find relief, and create momentum toward an improved present and future.
She emphasizes a caring, empathic, non-judgmental relationship and meets clients where they are in life. Connie believes in the strength, courage, and resilience people bring to therapy and views most individuals who seek help as temporarily stuck rather than fundamentally unwell.
