Cherry Weaver is a licensed counselor with more than 16 years of clinical experience working across multiple treatment environments. She has provided care in inpatient substance-abuse and psychiatric hospitalization settings, in partial and intensive outpatient programs, and through a private practice based in Fort Worth, Texas, before relocating her practice to Utah.
She holds counseling licenses in both Texas and Utah, qualifying her to practice as a professional counselor in Texas and as a clinical mental health counselor in Utah. Cherry earned a master’s degree in Counseling from Amberton University in Garland, Texas.
Cherry works with individuals and couples facing depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, domestic violence, and relationship challenges. She also supports clients dealing with parenting concerns, anger management, bipolar disorder, ADHD, grief, intimacy issues, stress, self-esteem difficulties, and life transitions, and provides coaching when appropriate.
Her approach emphasizes meeting clients where they are and allowing them to guide the focus and pace of therapy. She draws on Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, coaching techniques, and Brainspotting – an off-shoot of EMDR that integrates brain- and body-based methods – selecting the modalities that best fit each person’s needs.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For a range of common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and managing life changes – research and practice have shown that remote sessions can be as effective as in-person therapy.
One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect with their therapist in the format that works best for them: video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to engage in ways that feel most comfortable.
Therapists who offer online services are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change providers if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many people, virtual therapy provides a convenient, effective way to address everyday mental health and relationship concerns.
