Andreia Jennings

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I’m an existential-integrative psychotherapist. I have been practising as a fully accredited psychotherapist since 2010. My journey into this career started with 3 years of being a medical student followed by a change in my interests and becoming a philosophy student. After graduating from philosophy, I taught in secondary schools and did some freelance journalism. I then changed countries and became more aware of my own existential questions and dilemmas. That’s when I decided that I wanted to understand better the human mind and the way we navigate our journey through life. Existential questioning is not some fanciful philosophical talk, but an integral need for self-understanding, an essential tool for engaging with life. As long as we are alive, we are facing existential questions, no matter our level of intelligence or training. Life means existential questioning. However, engaging with this questioning requires paying attention to it and actively and persistently pursuing it. Though it’s natural to us to question life, it’s not necessarily habitual to us to engage fully with this type of questioning.
Existential therapy helps clients to engage more fully with life, to learn to reconnect to self, others and the environment by healing past ruptures and getting more in touch with the regenerative energy which each of us possesses.
Over the years my approach to therapy kept developing and enriching through knowledge from psychoanalytic theories, which helped me understand human beings through a developmental perspective. Narrative therapy and third wave CBT approaches also inspired my way of working with different psychological difficulties.
I’ve worked over the years with a wide range of issues, and I have been inspired more recently by dr Dan Siegel’s work which understands mental distress as ruptures in the flowing of energy inside us and between us and what surrounds us.
Since 2015, I’ve also worked with eating disorders, and I’ve kept enriching my knowledge and capacity to support clients who suffer from these presentations.
Psychotherapy involves a process of constant self-exploration and self-improvement and continual capacity to be flexible and able to connect and fully understand and validate others.

About

Andreia Jennings is an existential-integrative psychotherapist who has been practising as a fully accredited psychotherapist since 2010. Her path to this work began with three years as a medical student before she changed direction to study philosophy, went on to teach in secondary schools and worked as a freelance journalist.

After moving country she became more aware of her own existential questions and decided to deepen her understanding of the human mind and how people navigate their lives. For her, existential questioning is not abstract theory but a fundamental part of self-understanding that requires attention and a sustained, active engagement.

Her therapeutic aim is to help people engage more fully with life, reconnect with themselves, others and their surroundings, and heal past ruptures in order to access the regenerative energy each person carries. Over time her clinical approach has grown to integrate knowledge from psychoanalytic theories, which offer a developmental perspective, alongside narrative therapy and third wave cognitive-behavioural approaches.

More recently she has been influenced by the ideas of Dr Dan Siegel, viewing mental distress as disruptions in the flow of energy within individuals and between people and their environment. Since 2015 she has also worked with eating disorders and has continued to develop her skills to support people with these difficulties. She approaches psychotherapy as an ongoing process of self-exploration, flexibility and a commitment to connecting with, understanding and validating others.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people ask whether therapy delivered online can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes, research and clinical experience show that remote therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person work.

One clear benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that suits them best, choosing from video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into busy lives and to maintain continuity when circumstances change.

Each therapist offering online sessions is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be better. For many people, online therapy provides a practical and effective route to getting support when they need it.
