Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a professional counselor licensed in Pennsylvania. My counseling experience has been in a general practice with relationship, mood, parenting, and communication struggles and also in a practice dedicated to working with adults dealing with sexual addiction, pornography addiction, and relationship issues with roots in sexual abuse. I have also counseled teenage boys in a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.
I did not start out with a career in counseling. I have a degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech. I married another engineer, worked a little while, raised children, and when they were in the process of leaving the home, I decided to pursue counseling. I acquired my MA in Marriage and Family Counseling from Lancaster Bible College and have been counseling for over 10 years.
I believe that our past is not as important as the thoughts and decisions we make today. My approach embraces solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and client centered therapy. I believe that everyone’s life history has taught them valuable lessons. It is my honor and privilege to help my clients develop these lessons into functional, effective, and beneficial thoughts and behaviors.

Alesia Dunlap is a licensed professional counselor practicing in Pennsylvania who brings 17 years of experience to her clinical work. She works with adults and families on addictions, relationship struggles, family conflicts, parenting challenges, self-esteem concerns, stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related issues, depression, and coping with life changes.
Her clinical background includes general practice addressing relationship, mood, parenting, and communication difficulties, as well as focused work with adults facing sexual addiction, pornography addiction, and relationship problems that have roots in sexual abuse. She has also provided counseling to teenage boys in a residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation setting.
Alesia did not begin her career in counseling. She earned an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech, married another engineer, worked briefly, and raised her children. As her children were leaving home, she decided to pursue a new professional path and completed a master of arts in Marriage and Family Counseling at Lancaster Bible College.
Alesia uses an approach that emphasizes practical, solution-focused work informed by cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and client-centered principles. She believes life experience teaches valuable lessons and considers it a privilege to help clients turn those lessons into effective, functional thoughts and behaviors.
For many common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and navigating life transitions, online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person counseling. It can offer an accessible way to address these issues without sacrificing the quality of care.
One of the primary benefits is flexibility. Clients can choose the format that fits their schedule and comfort level – whether that is a video session, a phone call, a live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to integrate regular therapy into a busy life.
Licensed professionals provide care through these remote options, and clients may change therapists if they want a different fit. For many people facing everyday mental health challenges, online therapy is a practical, effective option to consider.
