Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hi. I’m Michelle Carter, LICSW, MSW, SAP, with DBT and Trauma credential (CTTP) eligibility. My primary interest and concern is you, your goals and current or persistent challenge(s). I believe the therapeutic process is a collaborative one. You may know what you want and need, yet you experience obstacles. Sometimes, we aren’t sure of what we truly want or need. Sometimes, we get distracted by the “should do’s” or “should be’s,” that are actually someone else’s wants or needs. Somewhere along the journey, we can pick up rocks we carry, unaware that we can set some of these down. We can become free to keep and carry those goals, values and ideas we truly want for ourselves in our lives. This then applies equally to others.
I act as a guide to assist you in discovering greater self-awareness, acceptance, and strengths I will support you in a nonjudgmental exploratory journey to define and reach your goals that come from the healthy, confident you– not from fear or symptomatology. We can explore and determine how best to decrease the symptoms or behaviors that are holding you back from more meaningful, free and joyful experiences.
I look forward to working with you. toward greater health and personal freedom. Michelle

Michelle Carter is a Minnesota-based clinician who centers her work on each person she meets, their goals, and the challenges they bring. With 15 years of clinical experience, she approaches therapy as a collaborative process that respects what clients already know about themselves while helping to remove obstacles that get in the way.
She is a licensed independent clinical social worker in Minnesota and holds a master of social work. She also has training as a Substance Abuse Professional and is eligible for DBT and trauma-focused credentialing (CTTP). Michelle uses a supportive, nonjudgmental approach to help clients increase self-awareness, build acceptance, and draw on their strengths.
Michelle guides people through an exploratory process to clarify values and goals that come from a healthy, confident sense of self rather than from fear or symptoms. She works with clients to identify and reduce behaviors or symptoms that limit meaningful, freer, and more joyful experiences, and to set down burdens that are no longer helpful so they can carry forward what truly matters to them.
She invites prospective clients to a respectful, goal-oriented partnership aimed at greater health and personal freedom, and she looks forward to supporting that work.
Many people want to know whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, research and practice show that remote therapy is often as effective as traditional in-person care.
One of the main benefits is flexibility. Clients can choose the communication method that works best for them – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – making it simpler to fit sessions into a busy schedule.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists at any time if they want a different fit. Online therapy can offer a convenient, accessible way to work toward improved well-being while maintaining the same clinical standards as office-based care.
