Hello, I am Dr. Corlissa Wilson, please feel free to call me Dr. C. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I am also a National Certified Counselor, National Certified School Counselor, and a Certified Trauma Specialist. I have been a school counselor for 28 years in both elementary and middle school settings. I have been in private practice and I taught classes for the University of Phoenix for 10 years. My approach to counseling is eclectic and I believe it is essential that we work together to promote change. I will work with you to help you identify issues and set goals. I use a variety of techniques and you will often have an assignment or an activity to complete between sessions. I love working with adults, adolescents, and children. I volunteer with several organizations and facilitate grief groups for adolescents and their parents.
I received my Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and my BBA in Marketing, M.Ed. in Community Counseling and Ed.S. in School Counseling are all from the University of West Georgia. I am married to my best friend from high school and together we have a blended family. His son was two when we married, and we have a daughter together. Every person and every situation is different and unique and I approach each client with that in mind. Dr. Corlissa Wilson, who also welcomes being called Dr. C, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia (GA LPC LPC002236). She holds national certifications both as a counselor and as a school counselor and is a Certified Trauma Specialist. Over the course of her career she has provided therapy for 25 years and served as a school counselor for 28 years in elementary and middle school settings.
She has worked in private practice and spent a decade teaching courses for the University of Phoenix. Dr. Wilson uses an eclectic therapeutic approach and emphasizes collaborative work with clients – helping them identify concerns, set achievable goals, and often assigning activities to complete between sessions. She enjoys working with adults, adolescents, and children, and volunteers by facilitating grief groups for adolescents and their parents.
Her academic training includes an Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, and a BBA in Marketing, an M.Ed. in Community Counseling, and an Ed.S. in School Counseling from the University of West Georgia. She and her husband, her high school best friend, raise a blended family – his son was two when they married, and they have a daughter together. Dr. Wilson approaches each person and situation as unique and offers support to those ready to take the first step toward change.
