As a child did you experience childhood neglect, abuse, maybe your parents were critical of you, perhaps they fought a lot, maybe you never felt you could get anything right. In order to cope children often adapt by becoming people pleasers, they can become avoidant with their emotions they shut down, become self-critical or are afraid to try in case they fail, perhaps you became an overachiever a perfectionist or maybe you’re never satsified. In childhood these adaptations often protect us but when we carry them into adult hood they can often be detrimental to ourselves and our relationships. Don’t let your past dictate your present and ruin your future when it doesn’t have to be this way. As a child you had no choice, no power no voice but as an adult all that has changed.

I work with men, women, couples and teens over 16. I appreciate not all issues are in the past so I also work with clients to help them through issues that they are dealing with directly linked to the present.

Trudi Bean is a fully qualified, fully insured integrative counsellor practising in the United Kingdom.
