Elizabeth Skaff

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Welcome! After completing my masters in 1999 at Case Western Reserve University- Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, I immediately began working at a private inpatient psychiatric unit in my hometown. My focus there was treating predominately children and adolescents while working with their families and schools. Two years later I was able to obtain my independant license, and I joined a private practice where I have been for the past 20+ years! In private practice I have had the opportunity to broaden the clients I serve and for the past decade young adults/adults have compiled the majority of my caseload. Issues discussed have included the following: transitioning to adulthood, family/relationship stressors, difficulties with self control and decision making, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and many more. What I have found remarkable over my clinical years is the consistency in which clients report the benefit of being able to talk/vent in a supportive, confidential, and non-judgmental setting. We all need support throughout our lives and a sense of connectiveness is vital to healing and understanding.

My treatment approach is not a “one size fits all” moto. Many considerations are taken into account, including my client’s needs and goals. However, many times themes related to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are incorporated. I am a fierce believer in the power of our minds and the subsequent connection between thoughts, feelings and behavior. Solution focused approach also instills a sense of hope for the future and emphasizes the importance of empowerment of my clients. I strive to create an environment that will be supportive and validating as my clients share their journey with me. I acknowledge the difficulties clients may face when beginning this process and commend you for making yourself a priority!

About

Elizabeth Skaff earned her master’s degree in 1999 from Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and immediately began working at a private inpatient psychiatric unit in her hometown. Her early focus was on treating predominantly children and adolescents while coordinating care with families and schools.

Two years after beginning clinical work she obtained her independent license and joined a private practice, where she has served clients for more than 20 years. Over a 24-year clinical career she has broadened the range of people she sees, and during the past decade young adults and adults have made up the majority of her caseload.

In private practice she has addressed a wide array of concerns, including transitions to adulthood, family and relationship stressors, difficulties with self-control and decision making, self-esteem challenges, depression, anxiety, and addiction-related issues, among others. Throughout her years of practice she has noted that clients consistently report benefit from having a place to talk and vent in a supportive, confidential, and non-judgmental setting, and she emphasizes the role of connection in healing and understanding.

Her therapeutic approach is not one-size-fits-all; she tailors care to each person’s needs and goals while often incorporating themes from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She holds a strong belief in the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behavior, and she also uses solution-focused strategies to foster hope and client empowerment. She aims to provide a validating, supportive environment as clients share their journeys and recognizes the courage it takes to begin therapy, commending individuals for making themselves a priority.

Elizabeth is licensed in Ohio as an independent clinical social worker and brings 24 years of professional experience to her practice in Ohio.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

For many common concerns, such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. It offers a practical option for addressing everyday mental health needs without sacrificing therapeutic benefit.

One major advantage is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that fits their lives best, choosing from video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That range of options makes it easier to schedule consistent care around work, family, and other responsibilities.

All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and patients have the option to switch therapists if they are seeking a different fit. For many people, online therapy is a convenient and effective path to support and progress on common emotional and relational concerns.
