Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana and have been for thirty years. Though I have practiced most frequently in a school environment, I have worked in other settings with a variety of populations, including teens and young adults. My areas of expertise include ADHD, anxiety and depression and personality disorders. My therapy style is low key and empathetic, with regard for the individual as a person of uniqueness with strengths and weaknesses that defy often negative labels. I use a variety of modalities in my approach, including cognitive behavioral, rational emotive, psychodynamic / transactional analysis and humanistic approaches. The approach(es) used and the eventual treatment plan will be tailored to the unique needs of the individual.
Therapy is a journey, and like most journeys, it begins with a single step that may well be tempered by fear or doubt. The road to change take courage to begin with that first step into a future that offers a promise for tomorrow.

Dr. Yael Banai is a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Louisiana with thirty years of clinical experience. She has spent much of her career working in school settings and has also provided services in other environments, supporting a range of populations including teens and young adults.
Her primary areas of focus include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. She approaches therapy in a low-key, empathetic manner and emphasizes each person’s individuality, recognizing strengths and challenges rather than applying negative labels.
Dr. Banai integrates multiple therapeutic approaches – cognitive behavioral techniques, rational emotive methods, psychodynamic and transactional analysis perspectives, and humanistic strategies – and adapts the selected methods and any treatment plan to the specific needs of the individual. She views therapy as a journey that often begins with a single, sometimes difficult, step toward a more hopeful tomorrow.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One notable advantage is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that feels most comfortable, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy schedule.
Therapists who offer remote care are licensed professionals, and clients may switch therapists at any time if they prefer a different fit. For many individuals seeking support, online therapy offers an accessible and practical way to pursue meaningful progress.
