Whitney Hughes (she/her) is a licensed counselor, Mental Health and Emotional Wellness Connection Coach, and a Trauma-Informed Certified Pause Breathwork Facilitator who brings nine years of clinical experience to her work in Maine.
Whitney began her academic path at the University of Maine, earning a BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in the behavioral sciences. After raising three children, she completed a master’s degree in Counseling Education - Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Western Michigan University. She draws on her personal experience with anxiety, depression, CPTSD, PTSD, and substance use, along with her professional training, to support others on their individual healing paths.
Connection, safety, and inclusivity are central to Whitney’s therapeutic approach. She emphasizes helping people re-establish an inner connection that fosters clarity, peace, and greater alignment in daily life. Whitney believes that when individuals feel seen and supported, they can better access their intuition and the strength needed for change.
Her mission is to create a welcoming space where clients can share their stories and explore transformation. Whitney offers encouragement, attentive listening, and compassionate witness as she supports each person’s goals. She is licensed in Maine as an LCPC and in Hawaii as an LMHC (credentials: ME LCPC CC6955, HI LMHC MHC-763-0), and integrates her lived experience with clinical training to guide others toward the strengths they already possess.
Whitney looks forward to connecting and supporting clients as they work toward greater well-being.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, remote therapy has demonstrated effectiveness comparable to in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that suits them best, choosing video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to build therapy into a busy schedule.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and patients may switch therapists if they seek a different fit. Online therapy can offer a practical and evidence-based route to addressing everyday mental health and relationship challenges while providing options that accommodate varied lifestyles.
