Greetings,
I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and practicing Psychotherapist in the state of Virginia. I am a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical social work. I have over 18 years of experience in private practice providing therapy to adults, couples, children, families and groups.
I have experience working with individuals who are challenged by depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss issues and substance abuse with co-occurring mental health challenges. In addition, I have experience across a variety of settings, including community behavioral health organizations, the University Counseling Center and various work place environments.
I describe my therapy style as eclectic, and client centered, I approach the therapeutic relationship with authenticity, empathy and respect. I believe in starting where you are and first and foremost establishing therapeutic rapport. I frequently utilize modalities including; cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, strengths based and mindfulness-based strategies. I have also provided crisis and disruptive event management and provided trauma response counseling to the survivors of the Virginia Beach, Virginia tragedy. In addition, I provide short term/ brief therapy for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and received specialized training and certification in the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders.
Finally, I believe that we all have the potential to change challenging situations and the ability to reach our fullest potential. Tina Fountain is a licensed clinical social worker in Virginia, holding clinical social work licensure (VA LCSW 0904005723). She earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical social work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
