Sonya Fields is a licensed therapist based in South Carolina with 25 years of clinical and coaching experience. She works with people who feel something is missing in their lives, who want stronger relationships, or who hope to move from merely existing to truly thriving.
She helps clients who feel stuck or who are ready to begin meaningful change by identifying internal strengths and tapping into practical external resources. By leaning into those strengths clients can take clear action steps, build trust in their own intuition, and make decisions that align with a more fulfilling life.
Many people find that speaking with an objective, knowledgeable professional prompts forward movement. Sonya partners with each person to clarify goals, uncover personal and environmental resources, and put those assets to work. She offers individualized services and prefers to combine phone or video sessions with text-based support when appropriate.
As both a counselor and a coach, Sonya brings curiosity, honesty, and perspective to the therapeutic relationship. She views each client as capable and deserving of experiences that bring joy, and she aims to empower clients to live authentically and purposefully.
Sonya approaches counseling through the lens of positive psychology - meeting clients where they are, acknowledging what works and what does not, and using unique strengths and values to foster well-being. She is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach and often integrates Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), commonly called “tapping,” into sessions. Sonya holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from The Citadel and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. She is a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina (SC LPC 4155) and is also a Certified MentorCoach. She generally offers live sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM EST and responds to messages throughout the week. She looks forward to connecting with people who are ready to pursue positive change.
For many common concerns - including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions - online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to in-person care. It offers a practical alternative for people seeking professional support for everyday mental health needs.
One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best - by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging - which can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel another fit would be better. For many people, online therapy provides a convenient, effective path to work on stress, emotions, relationships, and life changes with professional guidance.
