Sheri Pate is a California-licensed marriage and family therapist with 16 years of professional experience. She works with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, anger management, self-esteem, coping with life changes, ADHD, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, sleeping disorders, parenting challenges, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, depression, and coaching.
She emphasizes meeting people where they are and supporting self-acceptance as a foundation for change. Mindfulness exercises are a central element of her approach; she has led mindfulness and visualization practices since 2002 to help people manage stress and uncomfortable thoughts and emotions, anchor attention in the present, and open space for new ways of thinking, coping, and relating to others.
Her clinical work draws on interpersonal therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy, combined with guided imagery, deep relaxation, and awareness exercises. By exploring each person’s situation and strengths, she aims to help clients increase enjoyment and satisfaction in life and move toward their goals with confidence.
She earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology from UCLA and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from CLU. Raised in a racially diverse neighborhood of Los Angeles, she is Hispanic Caucasian and is a first-generation college graduate.
From 2011 to 2022 she led yoga, meditation, and mindfulness groups across the country and transitioned to virtual offerings during the pandemic, collaborating with other leaders to learn current technologies and techniques for optimal health and performance. She enjoys applying mind-body practices to personal, spiritual, and sports performance development and created an awareness card game called Witness Cards to help clients more comfortably identify areas for growth and change.
Her professional mission is to connect clients to their fullest potential and teach practical ways to bring meaning, joy, and success into their lives. She works to empower people to accept themselves as they are and, when ready, to pursue change in a comfortable, confident way.
For many common concerns - such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes - online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. It can be a practical option for people seeking help for these issues while maintaining the comforts of their daily routine.
One of the primary benefits is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best: video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging, which makes it easier to fit therapy into busy lives.
All therapists involved are licensed professionals, and if a different match is desired at any time, clients have the ability to switch to another therapist. Online therapy can provide an accessible route to consistent support and therapeutic progress for many common mental health and life challenges.
