Sharon Hollandsworth

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina. I have 35 years of agency experience working with adults in individual and group therapy. I practice client-centered therapy with a problem solving and skills training approach. I provide a very supportive and validating environment at all times with my clients. I like to begin by assessing and exploring along with you what you are experiencing as difficulty and what you feel you need or want in the counseling experience. This process continues as long as we work together.

I will also introduce skills training practices to help in coping with and responding to your areas of difficulty. These skills will help you gain strength in developing focus, relaxation, and interpersonal skills, and reducing anxiety, distress, and emotional upheaval. We will also focus on problem-solving skills and making plans or choices when needed.

Please call 911 for local emergency services. You can also call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to talk to someone right away

A little about me- I received my first degree in Music as a Guitarist before going on to get a psychology major and then a Masters In Social Work Treatment from the University of Tennessee. My work experience has been in community mental health centers and community health centers in Raleigh/Durham, NC.

I look forward to working with you when you are ready to start exploring.

About

Sharon Hollandsworth is a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina with 40 years of professional experience. For 35 of those years she has worked in agency settings providing individual and group therapy for adults.

She uses a client-centered approach that combines problem solving with practical skills training, and she aims to maintain a consistently supportive and validating environment. Sharon begins by assessing and exploring, together with each person, the difficulties they are facing and what they hope to gain from counseling; that collaborative process continues throughout care.

Sharon introduces skills-training practices to help clients cope with and respond to their areas of difficulty. Those practices are designed to strengthen focus, promote relaxation, and enhance interpersonal skills while reducing anxiety, distress, and emotional upheaval. She also emphasizes problem-solving techniques and helps clients create plans or make choices when needed.

Her education began with a degree in music as a guitarist, followed by a major in psychology and a Master of Social Work in clinical treatment from the University of Tennessee. Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly make a difference. For common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and adjusting to life changes – research and practice indicate that online therapy is comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.

One key advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect in the format that fits their needs and schedules best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which often makes it easier to incorporate therapy into daily life.

Licensed professionals provide care remotely, and clients are free to switch therapists at any time if they want a different therapeutic fit.
