Shamma Khatun

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a qualified humanistic counsellor based in London with experience in working with clients from various walks of life with a variety of issues ranging from anxiety, depression, panic attacks, relational issues, parental issues, suicidal ideation to name a few. Some agencies I have worked with include: High School, working with young adults. Revert counselling, supporting individuals who had changed faith adapt to a new way of life and a Hospice where i worked with bereaved clients.

I specialise in bereavement and identity crisis that can lead to despair or even an existential crisis. I also have a special interest in working with faith crisis and sensitive cultural issues that can be hard to relate to with others due to shame and taboo.

As your counsellor I will:

Provide an empathic and honest experience of counselling
Respect your autonomy and independence
Listen carefully to what you have to say
Provide a safe and confidential environment
Work with you to address your needs and make the changes you want

I won’t:

Advise you on how to live your life
Make judgements about how you live your life
Share the content of our sessions with others

My approach is to place you, the client, at the heart of the counselling in order that I can understand how you see yourself and the world around you. As you are the expert about you it makes no sense for me to interpret your life, but instead to recognise the way you perceive it. By working in this way, we are then able to explore how you feel about your life currently and how you would like it to be

I am a registered member of the BACP and I adhere to their ethical framework.
If this sounds like someone you would like to work with then please get in touch and we will take it from there.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether remote therapy can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective for most people as traditional face-to-face sessions. A key advantage is flexibility – clients can choose the way they connect that feels most comfortable, whether by video call, phone session, live chat or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into daily life. Therapists offering online work are licensed professionals, and clients may switch therapists at any time if they would prefer a different fit.
