Robert Turner welcomes people who are considering counseling and understands that choosing therapy is an important step. He approaches each new client with respect for the courage and inner strengths they bring to the work of creating a more fulfilling life.
Whether someone arrives feeling frustrated, lonely, or depressed, questioning their relationships, or sensing that there is more to life than what they are currently experiencing, Robert believes counseling can help. He also works with people who are generally satisfied but want to pursue a clearer, more meaningful path forward.
Robert views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative effort to build a practical plan for change. At times clients need a listening, nonjudgmental presence to help them focus; at other times they seek guidance about next steps. He places clients' goals at the center of each interaction and values the individual ways people implement change.
With a background in healthcare, Robert’s interest in counseling grew out of his work with sleep disorders and a subsequent guest lecture role at Stanford that exposed him to the mental health aspects of sleep. He completed a master’s degree in counseling and established a private practice 13 years ago. He is a licensed professional counselor in Colorado and works with concerns such as depression, anxiety, sleep-related problems and broader life transitions. His clinical focus also includes stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, addictions, LGBT concerns, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, parenting challenges, anger management, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, coaching, compassion fatigue, and ADHD.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist online can make a meaningful difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One of the clear advantages is flexibility - individuals can choose the format that fits their needs and comfort level. Sessions can take place via video calls, phone conversations, live chat, or in-app messaging, which makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Therapy delivered remotely is provided by licensed professionals, and if someone wants a different fit at any time they are able to switch therapists. For many people, the combination of effectiveness and convenience makes online therapy a practical option for addressing everyday mental health concerns.
