Renée has long experience counseling end-of-life patients, adults, children and families, so few situations will surprise her. She blends professional perspective with encouragement and suggested strategies to help clients navigate challenging times.
Her goal is to help clients live life to its fullest potential, finding greater meaning, purpose, connection and calm in a relatively short period of time. Renée is willing to do the clinical work alongside those who are ready to commit to change.
Renée Thompson has been a licensed clinical social worker in Florida since 2009 and graduated magna cum laude in graduate school. She brings 21 years of counseling experience and has provided services on an online therapy platform since May 2020. She is an expert in grief counseling and loss to suicide, and she co-founded the Tampa Bay chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, an organization that is deeply personal to her after losing a loved one to suicide. Her background also includes 10 years of hospice and palliative care counseling and 15 years of work with children in therapy settings.
It is a privilege for Renée to walk alongside clients through their journeys. Those seeking support are not alone, and she looks forward to meeting them.
Many people wonder whether virtual therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care for most individuals.
One of the clearest benefits is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether by video call, over the phone, through live chat, or with in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapeutic work into a busy life.
Sessions are provided by licensed professionals and therapists, and clients may change therapists at any time if they prefer a different fit. Online formats offer practical access to consistent support while maintaining the same professional standards found in face-to-face therapy.
