Megan Rafferty is a New Mexico clinician who has practiced counseling for a total of 30 years and has been licensed as a clinical mental health counselor in the state for the past 20 years. She brings decades of experience as a counselor, trainer, mediator, and professor, and looks forward to meeting new clients.
She offers a calm, nonjudgmental, client-centered, and holistic approach aimed at creating emotional safety so people can explore what matters to them. Megan works to strengthen what is already resilient while gently examining thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be limiting a person’s potential for positive change. Her work attends to the whole person - mind, body, spirit, emotions, and behavior - to help restore balance and awareness.
Megan has worked with adults, teens, children, families, parents, couples, and groups on issues such as grief and loss, life transitions, stress management, communication and family systems, divorce and separation, marriage therapy, art therapy, parenting concerns, workplace conflict, caregiving, and questions of meaning and purpose. She also provides inclusive support for LGBTQQIP2SAA+ individuals and addresses concerns related to stress, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma and abuse, intimacy, parenting, career difficulties, depression, coaching, and compassion fatigue.
Because she is currently working part-time, Megan is not able to take on clients who have been feeling suicidal or having thoughts of harming themselves in the last few months. In those situations she recommends choosing a counselor who is working full-time through the service. This offering is not an emergency resource - please call 911 or 988, or the 24-hour crisis line at 1-800-273-8285 if you are in immediate danger or feel you may harm yourself or others. She does not provide court-ordered therapy, and she does not send forms or contact other providers on a client’s behalf.
Megan holds a master’s degree in education, is licensed as a professional clinical counselor in New Mexico, and also maintains a license as a massage therapist. She aims to help people become more of their authentic selves through compassionate, steady support.
