Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Mary Aubrey M.S.W. L.I.C.S.W.
I’ve been working as a therapist for 40 years in a wide variety of settings. These include college mental health, community agencies, crisis intervention and hospital based services. I have also maintained a private practice along the way. I enjoy working with a wide range of individuals of all ages and varying backgrounds and lifestyles.
I earned my M.S.W. degree in 1985 from Smith College School for Social Work. Prior to that, I was working in the field with a Masters in Counseling.
I am licensed in Massachusetts as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.
I work collaboratively with people, which means I’m interested in understanding as much as I can about what you’re thinking and feeling about the challenges you’re facing right now. You might be feeling stressed, anxious, angry, or confused. I want to hear about this from your point of view. Together we can set goals and discuss ways to track your progress. This is how we ensure the therapy is working for you.
I have considerable experience with anxiety and panic, depression, relationships, managing stress, addictions, eating disorders, work-related conflict, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), family conflict, loss and grief.
The approaches that I draw on for my therapeutic work include solution focused, cognitive behavioral, family systems and stages of change (Prochaska).
In this time of Covid-19 many of us are facing unexpected anxiety, unanticipated challenges, and/or an intensification of issues that were previously manageable. Shelter-in-place policies are an extreme disruption to routines of work, family, and social life. This is when reaching out for help is tremendously important.

Mary Aubrey has practiced as a therapist for 40 years across a variety of settings, including college mental health, community agencies, crisis intervention, hospital-based services, and a longstanding private practice.
She earned her Master of Social Work in 1985 from Smith College School for Social Work, after previously holding a master’s degree in Counseling. Mary is licensed in Massachusetts as an independent clinical social worker – MA LICSW 1015299-1.
Mary works collaboratively with clients, seeking to understand what they are thinking and feeling about the challenges they face. Many people come to her feeling stressed, anxious, angry, or confused; together she and her clients set goals and discuss ways to track progress so therapy remains effective and responsive to their needs.
Her clinical experience includes anxiety and panic, depression, relationships, stress management, addictions, eating disorders, workplace conflict, PTSD, family conflict, and loss and grief. She draws on solution-focused techniques, cognitive behavioral methods, family systems perspectives, and the stages of change model (Prochaska) in her therapeutic work.
Mary also notes that during the Covid-19 pandemic many people face increased anxiety and disruptions to routines of work, family, and social life, and she welcomes those seeking support through these kinds of transitions.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. It can provide a practical route to support while maintaining the core elements of therapeutic work.
One of the primary advantages is flexibility – clients can connect with a therapist in the format that best fits their schedule and comfort level, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety of options makes it easier to integrate therapy into daily life.
Licensed professionals provide online services, and clients may change therapists at any time if they would prefer a different fit. For many people, online therapy offers an accessible and effective way to address common mental health and relationship concerns without sacrificing quality of care.
