Marlea Major is a licensed mental health counselor in Florida and a licensed professional counselor in Georgia with 10 years of experience providing therapy. She also brings more than 20 years of service as a first responder in the military and local agencies, offering practical insight into the emotional demands such roles can create.
She has spent many years working with foster children and the families who care for them, and she understands the specific challenges involved in meeting the unique needs of these children and their households. Her first responder background gives her a clear perspective on what men and women in high-stress careers endure and the trauma that can arise from those experiences.
Marlea works with a broad range of clients, from children to adults, addressing issues such as anxiety, PTSD, parenting difficulties, career struggles, addictions, depression, and various forms of trauma including physical and emotional abuse. She is warm and empathetic and believes each person should be treated with respect, compassion, and dignity rather than reduced to stigmatizing labels. As a Veteran and former first responder, she appreciates how difficult it can be to ask for help and recognizes the strength it takes to reach out.
Her approach blends person-centered care, psychoeducation, existential perspectives, and cognitive behavioral techniques, with a focus on empowering individuals to regain a sense of control in their lives and circumstances. Marlea welcomes those taking initial steps toward change and is ready to support their journey when they are prepared. She looks forward to working with clients as they begin that process.
