Marco Schilling is a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor who works with both current life difficulties and longer-term issues, helping people make sense of their thoughts and feelings. He supports those who feel overwhelmed by building concerns, who wish to process loss, or who want to address relational problems, offering a therapeutic space to explore and process these matters in a supportive and confidential setting.
With a calm and compassionate manner, he provides a reflective and collaborative environment, working at a pace that suits each person. Present challenges are often connected to past relationships and experiences, and Marco pays attention to how patterns and behaviours can become counter-productive over time. Beginning therapy can feel daunting, yet it often becomes a rewarding and enriching process when approached steadily and respectfully.
Marco has four years of clinical experience and has worked with the NHS and as a bereavement counsellor, addressing a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, bereavement, stress, self-harm, work-related difficulties, and chronic mental health conditions. In his role as a support worker he has supported people with autism and learning difficulties. He offers therapy in person as well as via video and telephone, and provides sessions in English, German and Swiss-German.
Originally from Switzerland, Marco has lived, worked and studied in several countries and values multicultural perspectives. He brings a creative and motivated approach to his work, also practising in music and television production, and adopts a holistic view that can include personal growth, spirituality and self-expression.
His professional orientation is integrative, combining person-centred and psychodynamic approaches to explore both present circumstances and the influence of past relationships. He holds a CPCAB Dip (a diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling) and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), working within an ethical framework that prioritises the wellbeing of the person in therapy. Marco offers a free introductory phone call to answer questions and to discuss how he can work collaboratively with someone on their journey.
