With nine years of experience, Lisa Wan is a fully qualified and insured counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She works in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework and receives monthly clinical supervision. She is DBS and GDPR compliant.
Over the past 7 years she has provided counselling for Leicester Woman’s Counselling Centre and for First Step, an organisation that supports male survivors of sexual abuse and rape. She has substantial experience working with anxiety, depression and complex trauma and regularly attends CPD workshops and specialised training to develop and support her practice.
Lisa originally qualified as a Holistic Therapist in 1998 and spent many years helping clients improve their general wellbeing. In that work she noticed that although physical treatments were relaxing, the time spent talking often produced equally meaningful benefits. Without realising it she had been offering a safe, empathic, caring and non-judgemental space where people felt able to explore the aspects of life that were troubling them, effectively providing the core counselling conditions.
Having initially qualified as a person-centred counsellor, she now describes her approach as integrative and holistically tailored to each client’s needs.
