Laura Johnson is a mental health counselor based in Wisconsin who combines professional training with a wide range of clinical experience to support people through life’s challenges. She earned a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Viterbo University in 2015 and is currently completing a Ph.D. in Advanced Studies of Human Behavior at Capella University. She is a licensed professional counselor in Wisconsin.
With five years of clinical work, she has supported parents facing custody and placement issues, individuals with addictions, people involved with court systems and jail populations, Alaskan Native community members, children, adults, and military personnel and their families. Her practice includes individual, group, couples, and family therapy, as well as psycho-educational groups.
Her therapeutic approach is integrative with a foundation in client-centered therapy - she collaborates with each person to develop a tailored plan that fits their needs. Laura emphasizes teamwork in the therapeutic process, viewing sessions as the client’s time and plan, and she strives to make therapy a comfortable, positive experience. She describes herself as having a gentle demeanor and a caring personality.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and her dogs, whether relaxing at home, camping, or riding ATV and UTV trails. She looks forward to working alongside clients toward a better tomorrow.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy is often comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that feels most comfortable, choosing video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to schedule care around work, family, or other commitments.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch providers if they seek a different fit. For many seeking help with everyday mental health challenges, online therapy provides an accessible, effective route to support.
