Larry Laehn currently lives in Milton, Wisconsin, and grew up in the Fox Cities area. He was adopted at two weeks of age and has lived with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease for many years, using a wheelchair for mobility.
He is a licensed professional counselor in Wisconsin and a substance abuse counselor who has also provided Employee Assistance Program services. Over a 30-year counseling career, he has practiced in both outpatient clinical settings and private practice.
His academic background includes an associate degree in finance, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in management, and a master’s degree in education with a focus on community counseling. He also serves as a director and member of several not-for-profit organizations.
Larry’s therapeutic approach centers on helping people cultivate self-love and then applying that mindset and bodily awareness to address whatever is holding them back. He draws on integrative medicine knowledge to work with behavioral, mental, and health-related challenges.
He views many difficulties as challenges waiting to be solved and holds the belief that “God does not create junk” - that each person has inherent value and untapped capabilities. He would be honored to help someone start or restart their therapy journey.
His professional credentials include master’s degrees in management and in education with community counseling focus, and licensure to practice as a professional counselor as well as credentials to provide substance abuse counseling in Wisconsin.
As Larry says, “Try to avoid hardening of the heart, it is much more painful and destructive than hardening of the arteries.”
Many people wonder whether digital therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can choose the format that works best for them - video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to incorporate therapy into a busy schedule.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists if they want a different therapeutic fit. This approach provides options for accessing support in ways that suit individual needs and lifestyles.
