Kathleen Pear is a California-licensed clinical social worker with 14 years of experience working in health and mental health care settings. She provides psychotherapy for adults managing depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, low self-esteem, health-related concerns, aging, and life-review.
She approaches therapy in a non-judgmental, supportive, and compassionate manner, creating a space where people can feel comfortable and safe. Kathleen encourages clients to recognize and build on their strengths and successes to enhance emotional well-being and to seek purpose and joy in their lives.
Her work is grounded primarily in Supportive Psychotherapy while incorporating ideas and techniques from Positive Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Client-centered, and Existential approaches to tailor care to each person’s needs.
Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, where she concentrated on mental health. She is licensed in California as a clinical social worker, a credential that reflects advanced clinical training and authorization to provide psychotherapy (CA LCSW 99908).
Kathleen believes that life experiences and past decisions bring people to the place where change becomes possible. She offers guidance and support as clients take steps toward positive change, acknowledging that the process can be difficult while emphasizing that no one has to navigate it alone.
For many common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. It can be an effective option for people seeking support for these types of issues.
One of the main benefits of remote counseling is flexibility. Clients can connect in the format that fits their life best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to attend sessions around work, family, and other commitments.
Sessions are delivered by licensed professionals and therapists. If the fit isn’t right, clients can switch therapists to find someone who better meets their needs.
