Kasimu-Richard Harley is an American with African roots who grew up in Pennsylvania. He is a husband, father, brother, uncle, and son whose life experiences have shaped his path to becoming a therapist.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and later trained to work in mental health. He is licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist, a state-approved credential that allows him to provide professional therapy (CA LMFT 29988).
With 27 years of clinical experience, Kasimu-Richard Harley has spent decades helping individuals and groups overcome the social and emotional barriers that limit growth. He believes people are born “Awesome” and that life events can stall personal and emotional development; his work focuses on restoring that innate strength so clients can move forward.
He has practiced as a mental health therapist in both outpatient and residential treatment settings, supporting adolescents and adults with substance use and mental wellness concerns. In educational environments he worked to remove socio-emotional obstacles to learning and offered stress-reduction and work-balance coaching to teachers and administrators.
His treatment style is systemic and eclectic. Drawing on cognitive therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices, he supports people through depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, loss, and related challenges. He invites prospective clients to collaborate with him to “Walk in Your Awesomeness.”
Many people wonder whether therapy delivered online can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
An important advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect in the format that suits them best - video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy schedule and maintain continuity of care.
Each therapist offering online services is a licensed professional, and clients may choose to switch therapists if they seek a different fit. For many people facing everyday mental health and relationship challenges, remote therapy provides a practical, effective option to receive professional support.
