Karen Santos is credentialed in Australia as a Psychotherapist and Social Worker and brings 12 years of clinical experience to her practice. She works with adults, adolescents and children, offering support for trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, parenting challenges, grief, self-esteem concerns and coping with life changes.
Her ongoing delivery of evidence-based trauma and mental health counselling, together with recent community mental health case management, has sharpened her capacity to understand, empower and collaborate with people as they pursue positive mental health in ways that matter to them.
Karen has completed specialised training in the neurobiology of trauma and developmental trauma, Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT). She is currently strengthening her competencies in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This mixture of training makes her able to work effectively with individuals as well as dyads such as parent and child.
As a female therapist of colour with extensive experience, Karen aims to create a safe space for self-reconnection. She remains curious alongside clients to uncover their specific needs, prioritises their well-being and seeks to ensure each person feels valued and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
For many common concerns - such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life transitions - online therapy can be an effective option. Research and practice indicate that, for these issues, remote sessions often achieve similar outcomes to traditional face-to-face therapy.
A major advantage is flexibility. Clients can choose the communication method that suits them best - video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging - which can make it far easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
All therapists offering online care are licensed professionals, and if someone feels the fit is not right they are able to switch to a different therapist at any time. For many people, the combination of proven effectiveness and flexible access makes online therapy a practical and valuable step toward improved mental health.
