Judy Hu is a fully qualified and credentialed counsellor registered in Australia and New Zealand, and has practised professionally since 2018. She works with adults, young people and children who have experienced difficult events including all types of trauma, family violence and sexual abuse, as well as with those managing depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, relationship communication and conflicts, self-esteem and confidence, emotional regulation, culture and spirituality.
Her clinical work is offered in English and Mandarin. Judy uses a gentle, caring and non-judgemental style and draws on an eclectic range of training to guide sessions. Her approaches include Person-Centred Therapy, solution-focused therapy, a strength-based approach, crisis intervention, the cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) 5-part model, brainspotting, attachment theory, narrative therapy, developmental neuroscience, talk therapy, small figures and psychoeducation, among others. When working with children she also uses Play Therapy, Art Therapy and Sand Tray techniques.
Judy values moments of insight and believes a single realisation can change the course of a person’s life. She holds a view of short-term effort for long-term gain and is passionate about accompanying people through dark and difficult seasons to help restore hope.
Her clients note her warmth, acceptance, empathic manner, cheerful presence and supportive nature. As someone who comes from the Christian faith, Judy brings that background implicitly to her practice and approaches each person with openness and curiosity rather than judgement. She aims to help clients reach their potential, clarify life goals and explore what may be holding them back, including letting go of old childhood messages, outdated coping strategies, and discovering self-worth and voice.
Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. Judy is available to support that process. Send her a message and she will be in touch as soon as she can.
For many common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or life transitions, online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. It can be a practical option for addressing everyday mental health and relationship issues.
One major advantage is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and to access support from different locations.
Each therapist offering online sessions is a licensed professional, and if a particular therapeutic relationship does not feel like the right fit clients have the option to switch to a different therapist at any time.
