Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello and welcome to my profile! I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia for almost 30 years (since 1993) working in all areas of Mental Health. I’ve worked with foster-care families as well as with families who had children with various developmental disabilities. In addition, I have worked with geriatric clients residing in Assisted Living Facilities. In between these two populations, I have also worked in psychiatric hospitals, acute Mental Health outpatient facilities, Alcohol and Drug outpatient facilities as well as both jails and penitentiaries with clients who had both addictions and mental health issues ranging from Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Major Depressive Disorders, just to name a few. I have extensive experience working with clients with both relationship and self-esteem issues, along with being an Adjunct Professor of Psychology for twelve years. My approach to therapy is always “Client-Centered” which means that I meet you where you are and assist you in identifying your stuck points and your goals that YOU want to accomplish with therapy. Remember, this is your life and not mine, therefore only you know what is best for you! As your therapist, my role is simple and yet complex – to hold up a mirror and allow you to identify both your needs and wants and assist you in developing the best course of action for you to take with the least amount of resistance. By the way, I do give homework assignments and completion is critical to your therapeutic progress. Come – take my hand and let us walk and talk together for a little while, because there is indeed a bright and shiny light at the end of your tunnel!

Jerry Smith is a licensed clinical social worker based in Georgia with 38 years of experience in mental health care. He holds Georgia licensure as a clinical social worker, a credential that reflects advanced training and extensive clinical practice.
Over his career he has worked with a wide range of populations, including foster-care families and families with children who have developmental disabilities. He has also provided services to geriatric clients living in assisted living facilities.
Between those settings, Jerry has practiced in psychiatric hospitals, acute mental health outpatient programs, alcohol and drug outpatient facilities, and in correctional settings such as jails and penitentiaries. He has supported people dealing with both addictions and serious mental health conditions, including Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and Major Depressive Disorders.
He brings extensive experience addressing relationship and self-esteem concerns and served as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology for twelve years. His work combines clinical knowledge with a practical, teaching-oriented perspective.
Jerry follows a client-centered approach – he meets people where they are and helps them identify the stuck points and the goals they want to accomplish in therapy. He emphasizes that therapy is driven by the client, and his role is to reflect back observations so clients can clarify their needs and wants and develop an effective path forward with minimal resistance.
He assigns homework as part of the therapeutic process and views completion of those tasks as important to progress. He invites individuals to take his hand and walk and talk together for a while, with the belief that there is a bright and encouraging light at the end of the tunnel.
For many common concerns—such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or managing life transitions—online therapy can be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. Research and clinical experience show that remote care works well for a wide range of everyday mental health needs.
One of the main benefits is convenience and flexibility. People can connect with a therapist in the format that fits their schedule and comfort level, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility makes it easier to maintain consistent care while juggling work, family, and other commitments.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and if someone feels they need a different fit, it is possible to switch therapists. Online therapy offers a practical way to access professional support without sacrificing quality of care.
