Janice McDermott welcomes visitors to her profile and acknowledges the courage it takes to seek help from someone new. With 37 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she continues to find deep satisfaction in supporting people as they make meaningful changes in their lives. She also practices Gestalt therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
Her career spans work in outpatient and inpatient mental health centers, addiction recovery programs, public and charter schools, and many years in private practice. She recently retired from supervising new social workers as they completed requirements for licensure. Her long experience means she has worked with a wide range of situations and is comfortable receiving whatever information a client chooses to share when they are ready.
Janice is the author of Healing Mind, Five steps to Ultimate Healing, Four Rooms for Thoughts: Achieve Satisfaction through a Well-Managed Mind, a book available on Amazon, Walmart and Barns & Noble that offers readers tools to act as their own therapist. In therapy she focuses on helping clients move toward self-empowerment, beginning from wherever they are and honoring each person’s unique needs.
She believes many people carry an inner sense of what they need to change, and part of her work is helping clients find and give voice to that part of themselves while grounding through the five senses. The aim is steady progress rather than perfection, and she encourages clients to take the next step toward a better life. Janice looks forward to hearing from those ready to begin.
Many people wonder whether therapy delivered online can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major advantage is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that fits their life and comfort level, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to attend sessions consistently and to integrate therapeutic work into a busy schedule.
All therapists involved are licensed professionals, and if a different fit is needed, clients have the option to switch providers. For many people, online therapy provides an accessible, effective way to pursue progress and support for everyday mental health concerns.
