About Me
I have been counselling for several years now and started my training in 2015. I volunteered and worked for multiple charities within Worcestershire with both adults & young people/children until recently when I relocated to Kent. I have previously worked within a local secondary school 3 days a week alongside my private practice helping to support people just like you. I work with a large variety of clients and have previously worked with clients facing issues including and/or relating to their anxiety, depression, sucidial ideations, eating disorders, bereavement, relationship issues, family issues, self-esteem, money problems, OCD, ADHD, ASD/ASC, miscarriages and much, much more. I am continually striving to develop my practice and knowledge and as such regularly attend training days and events to further my knowledge. I can offer several creative ways of working if this is something you would like to do also, this can be discussed over email or within sessions.
Why come to counselling?
People seek counselling at many different times in their lives for many different reasons. Counselling can provide you with a safe and confidential space to explore your issues without fear of judgement or consequences within your personal life. Many times, people can feel like they cannot talk to those who are closest to them because of fearing their reactions and the problems this may cause in your relationships. These feelings can be very overwhelming and can take over all of your thinking capacity, meaning that acknowledging you need help and asking for it can be scary. If you believe that you are ready to look for help, counselling may be a wonderful way for you to work through how you’re feeling. There are many types of counselling and some may work for you and some may not, it’s important to have an idea of what to expect before you work with someone. The counselling that I provide is an approach called person centered counselling. By working in this way, I have the belief that the client is the one with all of the knowledge of how best to help themselves, as such I will aid you to work through your issues so that this knowledge becomes clear again. I believe that you have the ability to find your own growth and the desire to change your life in the ways which will work best for you. I do this by providing a facilitative therapeutic relationship which is free from judgement.
Counselling is a confidential service, this means that what you share will not be shared outside of the counselling room unless there is a severe risk of serious harm to yourself or others or any crimes are disclosed, this can be discussed further during sessions.

Heather Prime is a person-centred counsellor with an MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a BSc in Psychology with a counselling psychology focus. She is a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS), and she also holds a certificate in online and telephone counselling.
Heather began her training in 2015 and has six years of experience working with people in a range of settings. She volunteered and worked with multiple charities in Worcestershire supporting both adults and children and young people, and more recently relocated to Kent. For a period she worked three days a week within a local secondary school alongside her private practice.
She works with a wide variety of clients and has supported people facing anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, bereavement, relationship and family issues, self-esteem difficulties, money problems, OCD, ADHD, ASD/ASC, miscarriages and related concerns. Heather regularly undertakes further professional development, attending training days and events to expand her knowledge and skills. She can also offer several creative ways of working where appropriate, which can be discussed by email or during sessions.
Heather practises from a person-centred perspective, holding the belief that clients carry the knowledge of what will help them most. Her role is to assist clients in accessing that knowledge by offering a facilitative therapeutic relationship that is non-judgemental. Counselling is offered within clear boundaries around sharing information outside sessions – this is considered only in situations involving a severe risk of serious harm to the client or others, or where crimes are disclosed, and can be discussed further in session.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist remotely can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or adapting to life changes, research and practice indicate that online therapy can be as effective as traditional face-to-face work.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that suits them best, whether by video call, telephone, live chat or in-app messaging. This range of options can make it easier to fit therapeutic work around work, family and other commitments.
Therapists offering online sessions are licensed professionals, and if the fit is not right it is possible to change to a different practitioner. Online therapy can therefore offer the same professional support as in-person counselling while providing added convenience and accessibility.
