Heather Beveridge is a non-judgemental, empathetic and inclusive counsellor who aims to help people feel empowered and find greater happiness in their lives. She loves her work and focuses on supporting clients to make lasting changes.
She brings nearly 30 years of experience working with Psychology, combining theoretical roles as a lecturer with practical roles as a social worker, mental health worker, SEN teaching assistant and counsellor. Her practice has involved work with children and young people as well as adults across a variety of settings.
Heather’s underlying belief is Person Centred - she views each person as the expert on their own life. At the same time she works as an Integrative counsellor, drawing on techniques from therapies such as CBT, family systems therapy and psychodynamic therapy to shape an approach that fits each individual.
She has experience supporting people with depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal ideation, insecure attachment, phobias, addiction, autism, ADHD, trauma, loss, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger, relationship problems, OCD, eating disorders, diversity issues and gender dysphoria. In sessions she aims to work collaboratively so clients feel heard, safe and understood in a confidential manner.
Heather believes everyone deserves a positive, fulfilled life, and she welcomes the opportunity to work with people who have taken the step to ask for help so they can pursue that outcome together.
