Guy Ridgway offers therapy with a focus on respect, sensitivity and compassion, shaping conversations and treatment to fit each person’s unique story and goals. He primarily uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to work collaboratively with clients toward practical solutions, and he also integrates humanistic approaches such as Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Therapy to create a genuinely listening and supportive space.
Whether someone is feeling lost and needs a listening ear or is ready to make meaningful changes, Guy aims to provide steady support and guidance throughout the process. His practice emphasises tailoring interventions to the direction a client wants their life to take.
Guy is fully qualified in the UK (England) and has five years of professional counselling experience. He is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and holds a TQUK Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism, a Level 3 qualification focused on autism awareness. He is particularly committed to supporting neurodiversity.
As someone who is high-functioning autistic and who also has ADHD and dyslexia, Guy brings lived experience to his work and draws on that perspective to offer empathy and practical understanding in the therapy room. That personal insight informs how he supports clients who think and process differently.
Guy has experience helping people with a wide range of concerns, including stress and anxiety - including isolation and social anxiety - depression, low motivation and self-criticism, and low self-esteem and confidence. He has worked in addiction recovery, including residential treatment settings, and supports people affected by trauma and abuse. He has also worked extensively with neurodivergent clients, including those with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, bipolar disorder and Down syndrome, and he is especially passionate about supporting individuals facing addiction or homelessness. Guy welcomes clients from all walks of life and strives to offer a warm, inclusive and non-judgmental space for therapy.
Many people want to know whether online therapy can make a real difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
The format also offers significant flexibility - you can connect with a therapist in the way that suits you best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.
Licensed professionals deliver online therapy, and if you find you would prefer a different fit you can switch therapists at any time. For many people, remote sessions provide an accessible and practical route to consistent therapeutic support.
