My name is Franklin Moore, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. I am also a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate in the state of North Carolina as well. I have experience counseling adolescents and adults in a community health setting for the past 5 years. I have over 16 years of mental health experience as a Qualified Professional in the same setting. I believe my passion for people and their ability to effect change in their lives is my motivation to learn grow and change as a professional counselor. I always strive to provide a client focused and supportive therapy experience for my clients.
My theoretical orientation is a person-centered approach combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). These approaches work well together and allow the use of other techniques and skills as needed. I also utilize interventions and assignments from other approaches such as, Reality and Existential Therapy. CBT frames client issues through cognitive functioning. Faulty or false thoughts lead to problematic behavior and the supporting of false thoughts. CBT is present focused and assist clients in identifying and overcoming faulty thinking and therefore changing unhealthy behavior. Person-centered counseling provides unconditional acceptance for clients. I view healthy communication and the therapeutic alliance between client and counselor as a major catalyst to desired outcomes for the client.
