Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello, my name is Frankie McKelvin. I am licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from SC Board for Labor Licensing Regulations (SCLLR), License #7124. I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). My clients vary from different cultural and diverse backgrounds. The clients with whom I work are psychologically and emotionally healthy and are seeking counseling for challenges arising from difficult life events. Some clients are facing more difficulties than others. However, I do not take on clients whom I cannot help using the techniques and knowledge I have available to me, or in areas that I am not trained in. I work with all individuals in life stages from adolescence through late senior years, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Also, I do consider my specialty to be working with family and couples, LGBTQ populations, and their individual and family issues.
In order for a client to be successful, the counseling experience includes active involvement in the process, as well as my own. Collaboratively, we will work to resolve your concerns and, hopefully, to improve the quality of your emotional life. You will be asked to apply yourself during and between sessions on a weekly basis. There may be homework assignments, including journaling, thinking about certain topics related to your situation, or completing other appropriate projects. All of these tasks are geared towards helping you to achieve the goals that we have identified for you in counseling.
I take an educational approach to helping clients with their concerns and my counseling is based on these philosophies: Adlerian Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy.

Frankie McKelvin is a licensed professional counselor authorized by the South Carolina Board for Labor Licensing and Regulations, with the license recorded as 7124. A member of the American Counseling Association, Frankie brings ten years of clinical experience working with clients from a wide range of cultural and diverse backgrounds.
Frankie works with individuals across the lifespan, from adolescence through the late senior years, and accepts clients regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. While Frankie supports clients who are generally psychologically and emotionally healthy but challenged by difficult life events, he does not take cases outside his training or scope of practice.
Specializing in family and couples work as well as LGBTQ populations, Frankie addresses concerns such as stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflict, grief, depression, addictions, intimacy-related issues, eating disorders, parenting concerns, anger management, self-esteem struggles, career difficulties, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue.
Frankie views counseling as an educational and collaborative process that requires active participation from both therapist and client. Sessions typically involve weekly engagement and may include between-session tasks like journaling, focused reflection, or other practical assignments designed to help clients reach the goals established in therapy.
Therapeutic work is informed by an integrative approach drawing on Adlerian ideas, Gestalt principles, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused techniques to tailor interventions to each client’s needs.
Many people ask whether remote counseling can truly help. For a range of common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and adapting to life changes – online therapy can be just as effective as traditional in-person treatment.
One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect with therapists in the format that suits them best: video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or messaging through an app. This flexibility makes it easier to fit regular sessions into busy schedules and to access care from different locations.
Each therapist available for online work is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to switch providers if they feel a different match would be more helpful. Online therapy offers a practical route to engage in consistent, goal-oriented counseling when in-person visits may not be feasible.
