Felicia Ponce

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California, working in the field since I received my Master’s degree in 2010. I worked for a private non-profit clinic with children (0-18) and their families for five years. I then worked for a high school district providing educationally related mental health services for four years before beginning the journey of practicing independently. I have experience providing treatment for a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, relational issues, parenting, trauma, abuse, and risk management. I also have experience teaching as an adjunct lecturer in undergraduate and graduate psychology programs at a California State University.

The desire for human connection and abnormal psychology have fascinated me since I was a teenager, which resulted in my choice to become a therapist. Each work environment has provided me with knowledge and experience, but also with the honor of being present for clients at their most vulnerable and brave moments.

I like to create a sense of safety for clients and draw from a person-centered approach in sessions. This means that I will remain curious about your experience and facilitate discussion which will lead you to discover that you have always held the key to unlock solutions. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems approach, and Solution Focused Therapy to guide treatment. Maintaining trauma-informed care is essential and I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).

Every therapist is different. I tend to be somewhat laid back, as I believe clients are the experts on their lives and I want you to know the hour is yours. We will work together as a team to collaborate on treatment goals, addressing challenges, and resolving issues.

I believe everyone has mental health. The severity and intensity it needs attention varies throughout our life span, just like most things. It takes courage to ask for help and I feel privileged to be in the position to provide you with support and guidance as you work towards feeling like the best version of yourself.

I look forward to working with you!

About

Felicia Ponce is a California-licensed marriage and family therapist who has practiced since earning her master’s degree in 2010. Over a 14-year career she has worked across multiple settings, including five years at a private non-profit clinic serving children from birth through adolescence and their families, followed by four years providing educationally related mental health services within a high school district before moving into independent practice.

Her clinical experience includes treating depression, anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, parenting concerns, trauma and abuse, and risk management. She also brings experience from academia, having taught undergraduate and graduate psychology courses as an adjunct lecturer at a California State University.

In session she prioritizes creating a safe, person-centered environment and draws from several evidence-informed methods to guide treatment, including cognitive behavioral therapy, a family systems perspective, and solution-focused techniques. Maintaining trauma-informed care is central to her work, and she is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

Felicia tends to take a somewhat laid-back approach, believing that clients are the experts on their own lives and that therapy hours should feel focused on the person in front of her. She works collaboratively with clients to set goals, address challenges, and find practical solutions.

She views mental health as a part of everyone’s life that varies in intensity over time, and she recognizes the courage it takes to seek support. Felicia considers it a privilege to assist people as they work toward feeling like the best version of themselves and looks forward to working with new clients.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions – online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. Research and clinical experience indicate that virtual care works well for a wide range of everyday mental health needs.

One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can choose how they connect with a therapist using video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging, which makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and access help from different locations.

All therapists are licensed professionals, and individuals who start online therapy may switch providers if they want a different fit. Online options can broaden access to licensed therapists and make consistent care more achievable for many people.
