Edgars Semenovs is a trauma-informed counsellor based in the United Kingdom who offers a warm, paced space where people can explore difficult memories, feelings, thoughts, behaviours and relationships at their own comfort level.
With 6 years of experience, he draws from a range of therapeutic approaches to support healing. His practice integrates Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Compassion Focused therapy, Solution-Focused approaches, Trauma-Informed Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Focusing (Gendlin), Embodied Clean Language inquiry and Existential psychotherapy.
He was drawn to counselling by his own experiences of trauma and various addictions, which he has worked through successfully. That personal journey informs his confidence in the healing capacity present in each individual when the necessary conditions are available.
His aim in therapy is to provide those necessary conditions to enable people to address wounds from the past that continue to affect them in the present. He has received feedback such as ‘I feel like I can accept myself and I feel more positive about the future’, ‘I feel like I am now kinder to myself’, 'No matter what happens, I’ve always got me', and ‘I feel more empowered knowing that I can always take a pause and attend to my feelings with compassion’.
His training includes an Integrative Counsellor qualification awarded First class degree Level 5, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma Themes Level 1 and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Developmental Injury Level 2, and training in Embodied Clean Language Coaching. He has worked with organisations specialising in alcohol, drug and pornography addictions, served as an NHS staff counsellor, and has extensive experience in mental health recovery services, mental health hospitals and crisis teams. He is a BACP registered individual member.
He also maintains daily practices of yoga, meditation and Qigong, which have influenced his emotional wellbeing and approach to counselling. He welcomes contact to explore solutions together.
For many common concerns - such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes - online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One of the main advantages is flexibility. People can connect with a therapist in the way that suits them best - by video call, phone session, live chat or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to fit therapy into daily life.
Therapists offering online sessions are licensed professionals, and clients are able to switch to a different therapist at any time if they prefer a different fit.
