Dolores Aguilar is a California-licensed clinician with seven years of professional experience. She holds the credential CA LPCC 13437, which stands for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California. Dolores works with people on concerns such as stress and anxiety, LGBTQ-related issues, motivation and confidence, self-esteem, trauma, and depression.
Her clinical approach is solution-focused and strength-based, and she also has training in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Dolores uses a trauma-informed framework and aims to help clients build on skills and strengths they already possess. She tailors conversations and treatment plans to each person’s unique needs.
Taking the first step toward therapy can require courage, and Dolores welcomes that decision. Her current practice hours are 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. She generally responds at least once each morning and once each evening, sometimes more. Clients can book live sessions in advance; if an open slot is not visible, messaging her to request accommodation is encouraged.
Please remember that BetterHelp (or specialty site!) is not appropriate if someone is in crisis or in immediate need of support. In crisis situations, call 911, 988, or local emergency services. You can also call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to speak with someone right away.
This counselor requests at least 24 hours notice for appointment cancellations. Cancellations made fewer than 24 hours before an appointment are recorded as a no-show/late cancellation and will trigger an auto-generated alert email from BetterHelp indicating the late cancellation. The counselor will wait 15 minutes after the scheduled start time; if the client has not come online by then, the appointment will be considered a no-show and will need to be rescheduled. After two late cancellations or no-shows within a month, the counselor may not be able to accommodate preferred session times during premium hours such as early morning (before 10:00am) or late afternoon (after 3:00pm). To regain access to premium hours, the counselor will require attendance at two consecutive appointments. If three late cancellations or no-shows occur within a six-week span, the counselor may recommend seeking in-person treatment and/or switching counselors on the platform.
For many common concerns - including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or navigating life transitions - online therapy can be an effective option. Research and clinical experience indicate that, for these typical issues, remote sessions can be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person therapy.
One major benefit of online care is flexibility. Clients can choose the format that works best for them, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to access support from a convenient location.
All providers involved are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they are seeking a different fit. Online therapy can be a practical and accessible way to receive professional support for common mental health and life concerns.
