Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My name is Danny El Hassan (M.Ed., M.A.), and I am an LMHC in New York State. I use an integrative approach to treatment including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, existential, and multicultural approaches to help adults and older adults with a variety of issues including anxiety and depression. I also have clinical knowledge of abnormal psychology, mood disturbances, and self harming behavior. I take a strength based approach to the work, and I work with patients for short-term therapy and for longer-term therapy. I focus on unconscious factors to help patients increase self-awareness and insight.
I have experience working with older adults, and I have been published as an author in the Journal of Homosexuality for my contributions to a project on the experiences of LGBT elders. I also have experience researching micro-aggressions experienced by people with disabilities. I have previously worked in Tele-Health and as a phone counselor, including with individuals in crisis. I have found that there are numerous benefits to Tele-Health for patients, including accessibility and convenience.

Many people wonder whether virtual counseling can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions, online therapy is generally as effective as traditional in-person care for addressing these issues.
A key benefit is the flexibility it provides. Individuals can connect with therapists in the format that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which can make it easier to maintain regular sessions around a busy schedule.
Care is provided by licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they need a different fit. Overall, online therapy offers a practical, accessible way to get support for many common mental health and life concerns.
