Have you felt stuck? Or deeply, profoundly, weary?
Have been experiencing intense pain, anger, confusion, and sorrow, or maybe you feel completely broken.
No matter where you are in life, counseling can be a huge step towards health and healing.
You CAN move towards hope, and peace and promise and ultimately towards the abundant life you desire.
Counseling is an opportunity to bring growth and positive change within your life. During times of life transitions, conflict, stress, grief and loss, we often come up short with how to address the situations and find ourselves overwhelmed. I have more than 20 years experience working with a beautiful variety of people in different places with one of a kind stories! I believe YOU have immeasurable uniqueness and exceeding value.
I aim to provide services of highest integrity, utilizing personal strengths, faith, values, education and experiences, all part of who I am, and how I see the wonderful world. I am married for 23 years to my college sweetheart. We have 3 precious children born to us and many ‘borrowed loves’, who are children we were able to embrace, bring into our homes, protect and provide for in various seasons of their lives.
Growth, healing, and change occur within safe relationships where a person feels truly heard, completely accepted, and genuinely valued. It is important that you realize that counseling is often HARD WORK! Without effort there is no change and this change is often tough. But you have already begun by reaching out for help!

Courtney Surigao works with people who feel stuck, deeply weary, or overwhelmed by intense pain, anger, confusion, or sorrow. She views counseling as a meaningful step toward health and healing and supports clients as they move toward hope, greater peace, and a more abundant life.
With 18 years of clinical experience, Courtney addresses a wide range of concerns including relationship issues, family conflict, grief, parenting challenges, coping with life changes, stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related issues, eating and sleeping disorders, anger management, self-esteem struggles, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, and depression. She values each person’s unique strengths and worth and aims to help clients identify and build on those resources.
Courtney provides services with integrity and draws on personal strengths, faith, values, education, and experience as part of her approach. She is licensed in North Carolina as a clinical mental health counselor.
She commonly uses cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused brief therapy, while also integrating strength-based, art, narrative, and family systems approaches when helpful. Sessions may include worksheets or practical exercises to practice between meetings, because meaningful change typically requires effort and application outside of the therapy hour.
Courtney believes growth and healing occur within safe, accepting relationships where a person feels heard and genuinely valued. She is married to her college sweetheart; they have been together for 23 years and have three children, along with several “borrowed loves” – children they have welcomed into their home in various seasons. Together with clients she clarifies values, identifies strengths, sets achievable goals, and develops realistic plans to move forward into the life they desire.
