Christine Asikuru is a qualified, registered member of the BACP with nine years of experience in the helping professions. She spent seven years working in an educational setting, providing one-to-one and group counselling for students and parents, and now runs a private practice in North London offering individual face-to-face, Skype, Zoom and telephone sessions to adults and young people.
She practises with a compassionate, open-minded stance, aiming to offer clients acceptance and a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space. In sessions she works collaboratively to explore difficulties that may be affecting daily life, to identify and understand negative patterns, and to support clients in making sense of their feelings. The goal of her work is to help people build inner strength and to improve wellbeing across different areas of life.
Her core training is person-centred, which rests on the belief that people have the capacity for growth. She also draws on a range of approaches to suit each client’s needs, including humanistic, psychoanalytic, cognitive and behavioural methods. Her formal qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Counselling, a BACP-accredited foundation degree (diploma level 5) in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills and Studies (level 2), and a Makaton for Professionals certificate of attendance.
