Catherine Brenen is a Michigan-licensed clinical social worker with 16 years of experience helping people navigate a wide range of life challenges. She works with individuals facing stress, anxiety, substance use concerns, depression, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, eating disorders, parenting difficulties, anger management, self-esteem struggles, career stress, bipolar disorder, and the effects of life transitions and compassion fatigue.
Her practice is grounded in respect, empathy, and positive regard, and she openly names faith in God and confidence in people as foundational to her work. Her therapeutic manner is warm and engaging, and she does not use judgment, fear-based tactics, or condemnation; instead she offers unconditional positive regard while supporting clients to move toward a higher quality of life.
Catherine blends solution-focused and client-centered techniques with dialectical and cognitive-behavioral strategies, and her work can also draw on psychodynamic ideas when appropriate. She individualizes the dialogue and treatment plan to meet each client’s unique needs, and she welcomes the courage it can take to begin therapy and stands ready to support clients through that process.
She is a Michigan-licensed clinical social worker, holding an MI Licensed Master’s Social Worker credential. Catherine looks forward to working with people who are ready to make meaningful changes and find healthier ways forward.
