Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Life forever changes, and the only option we have is to change with it! My practice is centered on client’s gaining new perspectives that drive personal change!
With over 10 years of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of individuals, couples, and families! I believe that the client is the author of their story, which inherently gives them the power to recreate the narrative at any time. I work with clients to acknowledge patterns and perspectives, both conscious and unconscious, that play a role in keeping them engaged in cycles of negativity.
As a person of color, I understand how hard it can be to engage with the therapy process when you don’t feel culturally understood or represented.
As an African American male, I provide culturally competent therapy by engaging your story and understanding that the world associates different meanings to similar instances based on race, ethnicity, and culture. Through this work, it is my goal to instill trust in the mental health profession for people of color that may have had or heard of negative instances previously.
I believe that every client is unique, has a different experience, needs to be heard, and should not be satisfied with cookie cutter solutions. There are many ways of addressing your difficulties and making life better. Let me be a partner in finding what works for you on your journey towards a New Normal!

Brian Wicks is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Minnesota (MN LMFT 3970) with 10 years of clinical experience. He has worked with hundreds of individuals, couples, and families, helping clients navigate stress, anxiety, relationship and family concerns, trauma and abuse, addictions, grief, parenting, anger, self-esteem, depression, ADHD, and coping with life changes.
He approaches therapy believing the client is the author of their own story and can reshape that narrative at any time. Brian works with people to identify conscious and unconscious patterns and perspectives that contribute to recurring cycles of negative responses, and he partners with clients to develop new viewpoints that support personal change.
As an African American male and a person of color, Brian recognizes how difficult it can be to engage in therapy when cultural understanding is lacking. He aims to provide culturally competent care by listening to each person’s story and considering how race, ethnicity, and culture influence meaning and experience. Through this work, he strives to build trust in mental health services among people of color who may have experienced or heard of negative encounters with the field.
Brian treats each client as unique and avoids one-size-fits-all solutions. He collaborates with clients to explore a variety of approaches and to find practical strategies that help create a New Normal and improve daily life.
