My therapeutic style embraces working with individuals and families of diverse racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds who may be experiencing a variation of stress and are new or returning to therapy. I specialize in honoring and lifting cultural values, beliefs, and the strengths as I provide insight and collaborate to create solutions and relief for presenting issues while fostering client’s confidence using very effective therapeutic interventions for short term therapy. I hold a Masters degree from Howard University and have also received post graduate training from Ackerman Institute for Families. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State and in addition to my private practice, I also hold a position as a faculty lecturer at Columbia University. Interventions used in my practice include: Solution Based Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Attachment and Structural Family Therapy, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. Client experiences may include: anxiety, ADHD, complex trauma, separation, divorce, blended families, behavioral or emotional dilemmas, work place stress, transracial/interracial relationships, same-sex coupling, professional anxiety, imposter syndrome, chronic illness, loss, grief, immigration trauma and a combination of transitional and health crisis’ in the home due to COVID-19 related anxiety and depression. Through my practice, I provide practical guidance and an engaging and empathetic approach to social, emotional, and spiritual growth to explore and identify solutions that work for clients.
