Angel Damara is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master of Social Work from Walla Walla University, completed in 2010. She brings 16 years of experience in mental and behavioral health, working with people of all ages across both addiction and mental health treatment settings.
For the past six and a half years she has worked at the Veterans Affairs (VA), supporting Veterans with symptoms related to PTSD, insomnia and nightmares, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, chronic pain, addictions, psychosis, and other mental health conditions.
As a transpersonal therapist, she blends spiritual wisdom and traditions with contemporary psychotherapies to support healing and personal growth. Her practice relies on evidence-based and best-practice approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with VA certification in chronic pain management using CBT (CBT-CP), and Motivational Interviewing. She emphasizes developing greater spiritual awareness to strengthen interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, and a sense of meaning and purpose. Angel values self-awareness and open-mindedness for both therapist and client, and she aims to offer an honest, mindful, and non-judgmental space to begin a healing journey from wherever a person is starting.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, remote therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional face-to-face sessions for most people.
One of the primary benefits is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that fits their life, whether through video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options can make it easier to attend sessions regularly and keep therapy integrated into a busy schedule.
Therapists offering online care are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch providers if they want a different therapeutic fit. For many, online therapy provides an accessible, adaptable way to pursue mental health goals and maintain continuity of care.
