Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based out of New York, providing virtual therapy in New York and Connecticut.
My experience comes from providing therapy to couples, individuals, and families with a variety of presenting issues including anxiety, relationship and family issues, trauma, addictions, family conflicts, parenting, motivation, and self-esteem issues. I approach the therapeutic relationship with care and respect for intersectional identities. Much of my experience includes working with families that have a member who struggles with anxiety, depression, and addiction. I’ve worked with parents on parenting, and couples on communication. I’ve worked in a variety of settings such as community mental health, group practices, large non-profit and for-profit organizations.
I focus primarily on adjusting how one feels, behaves, and thinks within relationships. Including your relationship with yourself! My style tends to be casual, relaxed, and thoughtful. I approach therapy with a directness and light demeanor that reflects my optimism about your ability to reach your potential. I strive to build our relationship so I can be someone you trust to lean on and also challenge you when needed.
My style and approach draws from Structural Family therapy, CBT, DBT, and humanistic models of therapy. I’m going to meet you where you are and develop an approach that works for you to help you meet the goals we will collaboratively build. Whether that’s enlightenment or improved function, I hope to work together to achieve it!
It can be an effortful process to work towards a better life. If you’re ready to do that, then I’m here to support you on that journey.

Andre Vilarinho is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in New York who provides virtual therapy to people in both New York and Connecticut. He brings five years of clinical experience working with couples, individuals, and families on a wide range of challenges including anxiety, relationship and family issues, trauma, addictions, parenting concerns, motivation, and self-esteem.
Andre has particular experience supporting families where a member struggles with anxiety, depression, or addiction, and he has worked directly with parents on parenting strategies and with couples on improving communication. His professional background includes roles in community mental health, group practices, and both large non-profit and for-profit organizations.

His manner is typically casual, relaxed, and thoughtful, combining a direct approach with a light demeanor that reflects his optimism about clients’ capacity to grow. He aims to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and to offer challenge when it supports progress.
Andre draws on Structural Family Therapy along with cognitive-behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavior (DBT), and humanistic approaches to tailor treatment to each person’s needs. He meets clients where they are and collaborates to develop goals and methods that suit their circumstances, whether the aim is greater insight or improved day-to-day functioning. When the work toward a better life feels effortful, Andre offers consistent support for that journey.
He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with active licensure in both New York and Connecticut (NY LMFT 001992 and CT LMFT 2851), and he practices from New York while offering virtual services across state lines where licensed.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes – online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person treatment. Research and clinical practice have shown that virtual sessions work well for these typical issues.
One major benefit of online therapy is flexibility. People can choose the format that fits their lifestyle and comfort level – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which often makes it easier to keep consistent appointments and integrate therapy into a busy schedule.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many clients, the combination of evidence-based care and convenient access makes online therapy a practical and effective option for addressing everyday mental health and relational concerns.
