Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
After completing my Masters of Arts and Education Specialist degrees at Tennessee Technological University, I spent 8 years in the Nashville area. I obtained my license through supervised clinical work with the Vanderbilt Community Mental Health Center. Our team provided individual, group, and family therapy within Nashville Metro Schools Special Education program for Emotionally Disturbed children and adolescents, plus we aided educators and families with development of behavior intervention plans and classroom intervention plans/support. During this time, I also worked in the Vanderbilt Community Health Center providing outpatient therapy to adolescents and adults. Since relocating my experience has focused on working with adults and adolescents, in both residential treatment, and the outpatient setting. For the past 8 years I have been self-employed as a sole proprietor of my own practice, located in a suite that includes a Psychiatrist, two psychiatric nurse practitioners, and another therapist. My training and experience has a wide range, and includes but isn’t limited to the following: Trauma issues, including sexual/physical abuse and PTSD, Grief and loss, Anger management, Crisis intervention, Depression and Anxiety, Parent training regarding behavioral issues, Coping with chronic illness; mental health and general health conditions, and Diagnosing mental health issues.

Amanda Burns earned both a Master of Arts and an Education Specialist degree from Tennessee Technological University and built her early career over eight years in the Nashville area. She obtained licensure as a professional counselor in Tennessee through supervised clinical work with the Vanderbilt Community Mental Health Center.
While in Nashville, Amanda worked as part of a team that provided individual, group, and family therapy within the Nashville Metro Schools Special Education program for children and adolescents classified as emotionally disturbed. That work included helping educators and families develop behavior intervention plans and classroom support strategies. During the same period she also provided outpatient therapy to adolescents and adults at the Vanderbilt Community Health Center.
After relocating, Amanda’s practice shifted to focus on adolescents and adults in both residential treatment and outpatient settings. For the past eight years she has operated as a sole proprietor of her own private practice, located in a suite shared with a psychiatrist, two psychiatric nurse practitioners, and another therapist.
Her training and clinical experience are broad and cover a range of concerns, including stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse – such as sexual or physical abuse and related post-traumatic stress – grief and loss, depression, anger management, crisis intervention, addictions, bipolar disorder, ADHD, compassion fatigue, sleeping disorders, relationship and family conflicts, parenting challenges and parent training for behavioral issues, coping with chronic physical and mental health conditions, self-esteem work, and diagnostic assessment of mental health conditions.
Many people wonder whether virtual counseling can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy is often as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One of the main benefits is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their life best, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That variety makes it easier to maintain continuity of care and to access support when schedules or circumstances make office visits difficult.
Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and it is possible to change providers if a different therapeutic fit is desired. For many people, the combination of evidence-based approaches and flexible access makes online therapy a practical option for addressing everyday mental health concerns.
