Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello, my name is Lacey Schmitt and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker. I have worked as a professional counselor for over 6 years, focusing on mood disorders, trauma, aging, grief, as well as working with teens, and adults, as well as the elderly. While I have this experience in counseling, I also have extensive experience working in hospice as a social worker.
My style is warm and down-to-earth. I like to use numerous perspectives and tools from many styles of therapy so that I can tailor an individualized approach together with my clients. I believe that therapy is an important space in which a person can feel safe to be their true selves, feel heard/accepted, and learn new skills, as well as grow as the individual you were meant to be. The biggest predictor of positive change in therapy is the relationship – I work hard to be clear, honest, and genuine as we learn about your situation and find solutions together. I can’t wait to work together and see the changes you are excited to make.

Lacey Schmitt is a Licensed Independent Social Worker practicing in Iowa with six years of professional counseling experience. She has focused her work on mood disorders, trauma, grief and aging, and has supported teens, adults and older adults in clinical settings. In addition to counseling roles, Lacey has substantial experience as a hospice social worker.
Her therapeutic style is warm and down-to-earth. She draws from multiple therapeutic perspectives and techniques to create individualized plans that fit each person’s needs, combining practical tools with collaborative goal-setting. Lacey views therapy as a place where someone can feel accepted, be heard, and learn new skills to move forward.
Relationship quality is central to her approach – she emphasizes clarity, honesty and genuineness as she and clients explore concerns and identify solutions together. Lacey works with a range of issues, including stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief, depression, self-esteem, sleep difficulties, career challenges, ADHD, bipolar disorder and compassion fatigue, and offers support through life transitions. She welcomes the opportunity to work alongside people who are ready to make the changes they seek.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes – online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. Research and clinical practice support its effectiveness for these issues.
One major benefit is flexibility. People can choose the way that fits them best, whether that is a video call, a phone session, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and keep momentum between sessions.
Licensed professionals deliver care through these various formats, and if someone feels a different match would work better, they can switch therapists at any time. Online therapy offers a practical option for getting consistent support while adapting to individual needs and preferences.
