Beda Gamboa is a licensed clinical social worker in California with 20+ years of professional work experience. She has experience in helping clients in the areas of stress and anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, & with improving motivation, self-esteem, and confidence. She believes in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. She tailors treatment to meet each client’s unique and specific needs. Beda has experience in direct service care in government, non-profit and private sectors. She trained at The U.S. Army Medical Department in Houston, TX, Maimonides Center for Sleep Disorders, NM, and Soldier Center in Clarksville, TN, treating complex combat trauma using evidence-based practice models. She is a subject matter expert with national certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Imagery Rehearsal Therapy (IRT), among several other Evidence Based Practice models, and has trained hundreds of providers in healthcare. While at the Fort Irwin National Training Center, Beda championed telehealth advancement. She led efforts to develop and implement telehealth during the pandemic in Los Angeles County. She advocates for Health Information Exchange (HIE) which enables interoperability, resulting in improvements in value, patient and provider experiences, and patient outcomes. Beda has extensive experience providing care to active-duty soldiers, children, families, those diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse and has worked alongside people with health conditions or impairments to increase access to equitable healthcare.
Beda is originally from Los Angeles. She received her master’s degree from Columbia University School of Social Work, and her undergraduate degrees in Sociology and History from UC Santa Barbara. She is an alumna of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), and the Cedars-Sinai Managing to Lead Program through the Healthforce Center at UC San Francisco which equips emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills, resilience, and confidence to effectively manage change and improve health care in today’s complex and uncertain environment.
She enjoys Cuban coffee, traveling, spending time with her “love tribe” and soccer.
